The Scholarship Program
True to the age-old Filipino proverb, "Kahit ikaw ay maralita, at sa ginto'y walang yaman, talo mo pa ang mapilak kund
taglay mo'y karunungan" (Even if you are poor, without gold or wealth, you're better off than the rich if you have wisdom
and knowledge), the pursue of academic excellence is something PAMAS regards very highly. Thus, the PAMAS Scholarship
Program came to being to somehow induce the Filipino youth to pursue higher education. However, the program is predicated
beyond facilitating monetary assitance to college-bound students. PAMAS has chosen to make it the vehicle of our youth that
higher education and hard work have merits deserving of appropriate recognition.
The three categories of PAMAS Scholarship Awards are the PAMAS-Restricted Scholarhip Award (restricted to sons and daughters
of bonafide PAMAS members), the PAMAS-Open Scholarship Award (open to all students of Filipino descent, including non-PAMAS
members), and the PAMAS Donor-Designated Award (open to students of Filipino descent that meet the additional donor eligibility
requirements).
Recipients
The scholarship awards are given to the most deserving young Filipino-American high school graduating seniors who are selected by the PAMAS Scholarship Committee. These young students are selected to receive the various scholarship awards PAMAS has made available to Filipino-American students in New England annually since 1996.
